First of all we want to tell you that our activity has been reduced last month due to our change of headquarters. As you already know, our founders, Andrea Fuentes and Victor Cano, have moved to the United States since they are now part of the technical staff of USA Synchro (Head coach and physical conditioner + acrobatics). All changes require adaptation time and we wanted to do it like this.
Having said that,
We are here again with new content thanks to Watlicam (www.watlicam.com), our preferred tool to correct technique.
Today we are talking about the Seagull figure, a combination of balance, explosiveness and strength.
1.- When opening to split position, to not bend the back leg, think that the leg ends in the knee. Do not try to reach the water with your foot. The only thing that has to touch the water is the back part of the knee.
2 .- Instead of lowering the legs down to open split, you go far with with the toes to touch both walls of the pool, so the split is much cleaner (not white water) and sharp.
3.- When joining to vertical, think that there is something on the ceiling that you want to grab with your feet. Do not try to join legs, because they will bounce and also the body becomes more unstable. It’s better to “catch something from above!”
4. – As always, with extension and squeezed body, everything is much easier!
These tips are very powerful and useful, my recommendation is that you try them one by one, repeatedly to see the difference when applying them or not. Do not try it all at once, step by step to be able to assume them!
